I painted some wood pannels for an upcoming group show of mexican young artists and designers in Brooklyn. The basic purpose of this exhibition is to show mexican talents and to break with the cliché of “mexican folkish life” and present some “new ideas”, yeah, something like that.

The little pannels will be put together as a mexican traditional toy. You american guys may know it as “Jacob’s Ladder”. I painted in one side “hip” marihuana consumers, and on the other side decapitaded heads that invade our daily newspapers because of the drug war. I think is difficult to show to “the world” such “inovations in art and culture” in mexico when the reality is that we are reclused by retarded fucking people with all kinds of guns. This country is a shithole in many ways and I don’t mean to be hypocrite on that respect.

Anyway, this show is meant to be rolling around galleries all over the world and some of the sponsors are great socialité industries like Perrier and stuff like that, so any effort to make a kind of stupid “social criticism” of my piece is automatically anulled since (I’m an idiot and…) the fact that anyone who will look at it will be drinking that shit.

The way my Jacob’s Ladder works is simple. the “A” side is meant to be the cool guys and the “B” side is the decapitated people so when the first pannel turns down the head painted behind it will be shown and And the same will happen With all the toy pannels.

This is all by now. I hope you New York kids go to that show, is opening on November 29th in that place “The Poetry Club Artspace” 317 Putnam Ave.
